Kids and Sports Injuries – Keeping Them Safe

Even though the month of September and Child Safety Month are coming to a close, we wanted to leave you with some ever important information to help you keep your children safe, while playing sports, all year long!

Did you know more than 3.5 million children suffer injuries, while playing sports, that are severe enough to require medical attention? Keeping your kids active in sports is healthy and fun, but it can also put them at risk of injury.  Most of these injuries are preventable.

The most common types of injuries that occur during youth sports are ankle sprains, muscle strains, broken bones, heat-related conditions, and more recently, concussions.  Safe Kids USA teaches parents, youth coaches, and children themselves about prevention and preparation regarding sports related injuries. They encourage parents and coaches to know and practice the rules of safety during practices and on game day.

Here are some easy-to-use tools…

Sports Safety Tip Sheet for Parents and Coaches and Sports Parents:  Safety Checklist.

Injuries to your child can occur anywhere, not only while playing organized sports.  Visit Safe Kids USA for more tips on preventing injuries at home, at play, and on the way.  If your child does end up with an orthopedic injury, visit CastCoverz! for functional and fashionable products designed to cover casts, orthotic walking boots, splints and braces, and companion products to bring relief and comfort to orthopedic patients.

Cast Covers Saved the Day

Breaking a bone is certainly no fun, especially during summertime!  Harlisha Homer, a mom and blogger for Macaroni Kid, is not a fan of broken bones, but quickly became a fan of CastCoverz!, when her youngest son broke two bones on a swing this past June, during a family reunion.  She wrote a thoughtful review titled “A Broken Bone, and How CastCoverz! Saved the Day“, which you can read in it’s entirety on the Macaroni Kid-SW Houston-Missouri City Blog.

Her poor son was traumatized and Harlisha, bless her heart, tried everything she could to make him comfortable enough to get some sleep, which was not an easy challenge!

Sleeperz! in “Trucks, Cars, Buses”

Enter CastCoverz! Sleeperz!, the oh-so-soft and cozy cast cover, which came to the rescue and helped her boy sleep through the night from that night forward…AHH!  Harlisha highly recommends CastCoverz! products to help make an uncomfortable situation that much more bearable.  As we say here at CastCoverz!, Feel Better, Heal Better!

Crutch Covers and Cast Covers in Camouflage

Dan is not only sporting his Legz! cast cover in Camo, but also his Member of the Broken Bones Club T-shirt!

No one wants to be on crutches.  They hurt your hands, your arms, and they certainly hurt your sense of style.  Even guys still want to look cool while hobbling around!

Just look at CastCoverz! customer Dan.  He’s cool as a cucumber wearing our Legz! cast cover in Camouflage Green (did you notice our Chocolate Brown designer colored crutches with green camouflage crutch covers in the background?!)

He wrote on Facebook how he “loves how the crutches are more well made, quieter, and have better bottom grips.  Seriously, their crutches are EXCELLENT!”

Put away those standard issue crutches and go bold and go colorful with designer colored crutches. CastCoverz! crutches are made with superior construction, made of lightweight aluminum, and powder-coated for durability and vibrancy.  Now couple that with the most comfortable, beautiful, expressive, and practical CrutchWear® on the market and you’ll be a walking (or hobbling) fashion trend, while on the mend!

Super Summer Cast Cover Review

While we never like to hear that any child has broken bones, we are relieved when our CastCoverz! products can come to aid and truly help deliver our “Feel Better, Heal Better” mantra.

Jessie Lucas, writer, photographer and mom wrote an amazing (hugz to you Jessie!) blog post where she reviewed our cast covers on the Eighty MPH Mom blog.

Three days before a vacation in Daytona Beach, Jessie’s 7 year old daughter ended up in a cast (UGH!)
Here are some darling pics of her little cutie wearing our “Cupcake Cuties” Armz! cast cover!

You can read the full CastCoverz! Review on the Eighty MPH Mom blog.

Your review made our day!  So glad we could help be a summer cast cover solution.  We agree…wishing the review would have happened sooner, so your daughter could have enjoyed more of summer with our waterproof cast covers!
