Keeping Our Children Safe and Break Free

As back-to-school time is arriving, keeping our children safe during summer activities, especially avoiding broken bones is at the top of any parent’s list.  Annette d. Giacomazzi, Founder and Owner of CastCoverz!, is an expert when it comes to broken bones (and avoiding them!)  She has provided some helpful advice on how to keep kids break-free, in their latest press release “Help the Kids Stay Break-Free This Summer.”

Did you know thousands of children are treated for playground related injuries each year?  The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons considers these numbers alarming enough to provide the following playground safety tips, in their press release “How Safe is Your Child’s Playground?

CastCoverz! provides functional and fashionable products designed to cover casts, orthotic walking boots, splints and braces, and companion products; such as CastCooler, DryPro, and CastShield, to bring relief and comfort to orthopedic patients.

In addition to keeping our kids safe during summer activities and on playgrounds specifically, going to and from school and staying safe while at school are just as important!  School is where children spend the majority of their time, outside of their own home; thus, the National Crime Prevention Council has provided some advice for parents on making sure their kids stay safe at school and while traveling to and from, in “What Parents Can Do to Keep Kids Safe at School.”

As a parent, we all strive to keep our children as safe as possible.  With resources available to us, like those above, keeping our children safe is a very attainable goal!

CastCoverz! Receives Respected Testimony

Rick Dunagan, inventor of the innovative cast management product, the CastCooler®, broke his arm recently while racing.  CastCoverz! came to the rescue with a CCZ! Care Package.  Rick, a car engineer by trade, always respected our products, service and marketing, and our business relationship. Disclosure: CCZ! proudly carries the CastCooler.
But Rick truly didn’t “get” the value of our branded products (covers for all things orthotic)…until now!

Rick has sent us texts, pictures, emails, and even called to tell us how much he loves his custom camo-grey CastCoverz! Handz!   He is now a true fan.  A few of his quotes:

“My Armz! is saving my furniture!”
*  “Everyone loves my cast cover …”

*  “People come right up to me and say how cool this is!”
*  “Fitz well” (we love his play on the z),

and our favorite,
“The CastCooler works well with CCZ! covers…Perfectly paired products!”

Check out more CastCoverz! customer testimonies HERE. We wish Rick well and a speedy recovery! Oh, and this wasn’t Rick’s first broken bone.  He received a “Member of the Broken Bones Club” t-shirt, which he truly deserves!

Play it SAFE!

Did you know over 200,000 children are injured each year on playgrounds, both public and private?  That’s a scary figure!  Many broken bones and head injuries are suffered due to playground related incidents, falling from high equipment ranking the highest.

With nice, warm weather on the horizon, it’s important for you to know what to look for to ensure your playground is a safe haven for your children.  This week is National Playground Safety Week, sponsored by the National Program for Playground Safety Safe Kids USA has provided the following tips to help you determine whether your local playground is kid-friendly, safe, and ready for play!  Of course, we would never wish a broken bone on anyone, but CastCoverz! will be here if you or a loved one are ever in need.  We provide fun and functional products that comfort orthopedic patients.  Now, on to those tips…

Top Playground Safety Tips:

  • Look for playgrounds with shredded rubber, mulch, wood chips or sand. Grass and soil are not good surfaces.
  • Playground surfacing material should be 12 inches deep and extend 6 feet in all directions around equipment.
  • Make sure playground equipment is inspected frequently and kept in good repair. If it’s not, report this to your local parks and recreations office.
  • Remove hood and neck drawstrings from children’s clothing and outerwear and don’t let kids wear helmets, necklaces, purses or scarves on the playground.
  • Don’t allow your kids to engage in, or play near, any pushing, shoving or crowding around playground equipment.
  • Keep toddlers under age 5 in a separate play area, away from equipment designed for bigger kids.
  • Actively supervise kids on a playground. Just being in the same area isn’t good enough – they need your undivided attention while playing on or around the equipment.
